Greasy, Burnt Tuesday Evening

Hi! Does anyone have stainless steel pans!? I love my Al-Clad cookware but man oh man those nasty stains they receive. And yes, before I start to hear it from you guys, I have yet to fully learn how to correctly heat and cook with my pans to where they show no residue. I admit it. Ok, now that’s out of the air I can continue =) LOL….

Well, it happened. I browned my chic thighs in the pan over the stove and then put in a blend of brown sugar, honey, thyme, garlic, basil oil, oregano oil, along with some salt and pepper. I then placed the entire pan into the oven to finish cooking.

This dish is unreal yummy but the sticky stuck-on mess the brown sugar, honey and grease leave behind is a nightmare. That is…unless you have Lemon Oil.

I do not use BarKeepers cleaners, as I was referred to do, bc I just plain out do not trust any chemicals on my cook wear. Also along with dishwasher detergent, but thats another story. So I would always sit there and try to just scrub and scrub the mess off and it never would come 100% off and shiny.

So as I sat there over the sink scrubbing and scrubbing, I had an epiphany. DUH. Lemon Oil. O.M.G. WHY have I never thought of this before. If it can take off stickers, and cut through grease and is used for cleaning, and is in the Thieves Household Cleaner, then it must work. Well, make a long story short, it did.

I literally did not have to even use a sponge. I used a paper towel. Check it out.

That simple. And that is all I have to say. Pictures are worth 1,000 words.

DIY Foaming Hand Soap

OH.MY.Gosh. Someone please tell me why I have waited so long to make this!? I mean, paying $3.69 for each bottle of soap makes zero sense when you have the accessibility to make it yourself for little to no cost. Especially having 2 boys where I am telling them constantly to *insert mom voice here* “Wash your hands!”. LOL. This is a healthy frugal option and I am not sure why I have been pushing it to the side.

This literally took me ONE minute to make. It was so easy and quick that it almost startled me! haha! I was like “whoa! That is it! No way”

HandSoap

Here are the simple ingredients:

  • Water (distilled or boiled. I used boiled)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oil (I used Avocado Oil)
  • Liquid Castle Soap. I purchased mine HERE.
  • Essential Oil (your choice) 6-10 drops depending on what you like. purchase yours here.

Instructions:

  1. Fill the soap dispenser 2/3 full of water leaving room for the top and the soap to be added.
  2. Add at LEAST 2 tablespoons of liquid castle soap. * Do not add the soap first or it will bubble up when you add the water. (I used 3 tablespoons for the extra foam)
  3. Add both oils, the Olive and whichever essential oil you choose. ( I used Thieves for the naturally occurring immune boosting properties).
  4. Close and twirl around to mix.
  5. Use knowing you are replacing harsh chemicals with a non-toxic soap for your family.

JUST LIKE THAT…..BOOM!

Orange Eat’n Friday!

TGIF!! Wahoo! Let the weekend commence! I’ve been busy stirring some fun up in the kitchen. And to no avail, this time it was the creation of Play dough. Not just any play dough though, the non-toxic, therapeutic kind. The kind that if the little one eats, will not hurt him, although it may be a bit salty, yuck! And, the kind of play dough that you do not mind your child handling=)

Heres the list of ingredients used to make some for your littles! It was super easy and quick to make.

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tb of Cream of Tarter
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 tb of olive oil
  • food coloring
  • EO’s of your choice

playdough

So, for the EO’s, I used Thieves, Lavender, Orange, and Peppermint!

You then combine the water, salt, COT, and olive oil into a pan and make warm (do not boil). Remove from heat, dump in the flour and mix. When well blended, place on parchment paper where you will knead the dough until no longer sticky. playdough1playdough2

Then pull apart however big you want the different pieces to be. I did four separate balls at this point. Add the coloring of your choice and the EO and knead again until mixed. playdough6 playdough5 playdough4

I then let my two year old play! I kid you not, he sat at the table and played with this play dough for an entire hour. WHY did I ever wait so long to make this for him!

The Cream of Tarter will keep this play dough fresh for a few months is stored in an air-tight container! And the BONUS….. the essential oils are also going to keep the bacteria at bay during play!

sn; just take out the lavender play dough before bed and let them play. The kids will be inhaling the lavender that may help calm them and they have no idea! Score for both parents and kiddos!
